What is a Collaborative Divorce?

Clients proceed through the process as a team with trained professionals to resolve disputes respectfully, without going to court.  Each party will have the guidance of an attorney (by special contracts/agreements) and will build a core team of professionals that will assist in maintaining civility while resolving matters with their common purposes, interests, and/or benefits for both in mind.  Some common benefits are reduced costs, protection of the children through the process.  This is often the best way to move onto to your future as a single.  Collaboration prevents unnecessary damage to relationships, psyche, and budgets. It also allows the parties to maintain or rebuild a cooperative relationship so they can work together to make logical and fair division of assets, and liabilities and to determine the best interests of their children by agreeing to child visitation and custody arrangements that consider their interests, lifestyles, and work schedules that avoid the stress of acrimonious proceedings.
